Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, according to American standards, in the category of child prodigy. But for a person of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family members, these were very natural traits. Maureen entered this loving refuge within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is the mother of her. She was a accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share of "The Shamrock Rovers" a renowned Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and was a pro in athletics. Her passion for sports was matched by an equally natural gift of performing. This was apparent when she was awarded each Feis for theatre and drama which Ireland could offer. When she turned 14, she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre as well as operatic vocals.
